Yuri Trutnev recently took a peek at the bustling construction scene at the international airport in Blagoveshchensk, ready to admire its shiny new infrastructure. The modern twists involve a newly built taxiway that connects a glitzy runway to a snazzy new passenger terminal. This shiny 320-meter-long thoroughfare is not only 46 meters wide, but thanks to its upgrades, planes can now taxi to their parking spots without waiting for a tug, giving them a taste of VIP treatment! The airport is also rolling out the red carpet with extra parking spots for aircraft, allowing it to juggle up to three planes at a time – or up to five narrow-body jets or three wide-body beauties on the new apron. Plus, there’s a special spot for de-icing those frozen wings, making sure no flight gets grounded due to old Jack Frost. As for the fabulous new terminal? It’s going to be a whopping 3.5 times larger than the original. With over 25,000 square meters of space and a passenger throughput capability that can handle 600 domestic and 400 international travelers per hour, this terminal will be the new star in Blagoveshchensk. Imagine plenty of cozy lounges, two galleries each with two fabulous jet bridges, and an experience that feels like first-class, even in economy! Currently, the concrete structure of this terminal is done – yes, we’ve got columns and ceilings galore! They’ve already ironed out 78% of the metal framework – that’s 745 tons, folks. Plus, over 40% of the roof is now on, and soon they’ll be gluing those shiny window panels. Meanwhile, they’re busy running plumbing and electrical lines faster than a football player in a rush to the end zone. They’ve even brought in a modular boiler to keep those waiting areas warm. So overall, this reconstruction is like taking the airport from black-and-white to technicolor – brighter, roomier, and ready to take Blagoveshchensk to new heights.
